Today we discover together several adjectives, nouns and an adverb that have the word “Freund” (friend) in their composition. These kinds of words are one of the reasons why I find German fascinating!
Because practicing and making mistakes is how we grow, a little quiz is waiting for you at the end!
For those of us who have forgotten what suffixes are, I would like to remind you that they are groups of letters that are added at the end of a base word to create a new word. For example, in the word “freundlich”, “Freund” is the base word and “lich” is a suffix. You will understand by concrete examples if you watch the first video.
Through the first video we learn the following words:
– freundlich (and the noun die Freundlichkeit)
– unfreundlich
– umweltfreundlich (and the noun die Umweltfreundlichkeit)
– menschenfreundlich (and the noun die Menschenfreundlichkeit)
– gastfreundlich (and the noun die Gastfreundlichkeit)
– benutzerfreundlich (and the noun die Benutzerfreundlichkeit)
– freundlicherweise
The second video:
… will help you repeat the words & expressions we just learned. Because, when we are trying to integrate a new language into our brains, we need to create a habit, a thinking pattern. And that can be done only through repetition. Have a happy and relaxing repeating!
Test your knowledge:
… by taking a quiz. And be sure that even when you make a mistake, you are learning. Have fun!
